Saw the road going version of the new Benz sport-back crossover. Good lord, the ugly is strong in this one. There simply is not a good angle.

It even gets worse when they are tilted upwards. When I was still commuting on the Autobahnring around Munich I saw a shitload of those on truck being transported to Stuttgart (do they make them in Graz??). The last one always sits on an extension, looking like it is hanging on for dear life. It makes the ass even bigger.

Holy crap, that thing is so disproportionate. If you cover up the tops of the wheel wells down, it looks like a normal sedan. It’s carrying all of its’ visual weight at the bottom.

These are very polarizing. Some people love them. I like the front when viewed straight on, but that’s it. This whole SUV coupe niche is stupid.

I understand that tastes vary. Not being a Benz guy (with the exception of the E55/65 AMG Wagon—rowr), I’m actually surprised at how strongly I felt about it. I really HATE it. The example I saw yesterday was so huge next to me (and I was in my wife’s Prado. Yes, I would rather you think I have a Prado than an 05 GX470) and it was so obstinately pointless —the driver was barely able to make the radius in a Burger King drive through as I came out of the liquor store— that I felt like ramming it. Seriously. That strong a response.

I usually don’t care when people drive pointless cars. I like the variety if nothing else. For some reason, this one just went over the edge. So gross.

Much worse looking than the X6, which is just as pointless.

Of course, in full disclosure, I think the Audi S7 is the only sport-back that looks remotely right, and it should really have been a wagon. The only sportback in SUV form that works on any level (in my haughty opinion) is the old Lambo.

Reminds me of an X6 and they are ruddy ugly. What is happening with Mercedes and BMW these days? Are they trying to become more.......................... French ala Peugeot and Citroen with off the cuff designs?

if I was going to have one of these silly type of cars, it would be the x6m. looks better. they cant really go off road anyway, so they are just compromised cars on road, with poor handling compared with any type normal road car with normal ground clearancs. I would take a E63 OR s63 any day. I would like a cayenne turbo though. I hope Porsche doesn’t end up making a dumb SUV coupe thing. I like super Suvs just not these type of things. All though they did feature this car in Jurassic world and it did look kind of cool

I’m as big a hater of the X6 as anyone around here but I saw a white GLE Coupe the other day on the road for the first time as it was coming towards me in the opposite lane. Whoa, that thing had some presence, I swear it looked like a white tank. At that moment, the GLE Coupe became alright in my book.

I sat in a Red one at a dealership back in August and thought the interior was great it was the outside I wasn’t a fan of but in motion it is not bad at all.

Most cars look better in person than in pictures. What is really remarkable about those SUV Coupe things is the fact that they are actually more hideous in real life. The homongous proportions are just wrong.
